Workshop WTO plurilateral initiatives, global challenges and the new world economic order

On Tuesday 5 May 2026, at the Law School of the University of Bologna, there will be the International Workshop on “WTO Plurilateral Initiatives, Global Challenges and the New World Economic Order”. The event is within the initiative of the research project, cofunded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), “Il sistema multilaterale degli scambi come piattaforma per affrontare le sfide globali: gli Accordi e le Iniziative plurilaterali dell’OMC quali strumenti di governance del nuovo ordine economico mondiale”, coordinated by Prof. Elisa Baroncini. At the Workshop, the members of the international research group will present their papers on the debate over variable geometry for plurilateral tools at the WTO, and the collaboration initiatives sought and realized formally outside the multilateral trading system, but always seeking coordination with the WTO legal framework.

The UNIBO-MAECI Project is also realized within the initiatives of the SustainEUorPlanet Jean Monnet Chair Project, in collaboration with the Society of International Economic Law and DIEcon, the Interest Group on International Economic Law of the Italian Society of International Law and EU Law.
