There are three Italian universities in the top 200 of the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020: the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, the Normale and, above all, the University of Bologna. All three universities’ positions rose in the standings. In fact, compared to last year the University of Bologna moved up 12 positions.
This is another step forward for the University of Bologna in the ranking of universities by Times Higher Education (THE). In 2018, the University of Bologna was nothing more than a new entry in the list of the 200 top universities, coming in at 180. In 2019, the Alma Mater climbed higher, reaching 168 in this renowned international ranking. If we consider that there are about 26,000universities in the world, the University of Bologna is in the top 1% of universities worldwide.
Looking at the details of the indicators taken into consideration, the Alma Mater achieves excellent results on all fronts, with some particularly significant rankings. In particular, the University of Bologna is fourth in the world for "Quality Education", which measures the ability of universities to offer quality inclusive and innovative education, and fourth in the world for "Gender Equality", which assesses the attention to policies to overcome gender inequalities, while it is sixth in the world in "Decent Work and Economic Growth", which measures the quality of research in the economic field and the ability of universities to offer their students and graduates opportunities for contact with the working world.
The University’s Legal Sciences school is ranked 79th, which is one of those areas that raises the overall average.
