Bioethics and Law Observatory
The Observatory intends to promote and carry out training and dissemination initiatives in a multidisciplinary perspective, in collaboration with local bodies and institutions.
LAW CLINIC "VICTIMES, DISCRIMINATIONS AND LAWS"
Working with the Lawyers' Association and local institutions, starting in the 2017/2018 academic year the department launched the "Victims, Discrimination and Law" clinics. Responding both to the objectives of Public Engagement of the Third Mission and to the educational descriptors of the Bologna Process (conveying values by producing knowledge and providing skills), the project is aimed at "increasing the well-being of society" (Anvur, 2013). Based on a real case, the legal clinic combines educational content through innovative pedagogy based on learning by doing with a service of social justice.
"CINEMA AND LAW" Project
The Cinema and Law project, financed with funds for the Third Mission, is based on the profound interrelation between cinema, images and law, recognizing the importance of the media representation of law and justice. In its first edition - both in Bologna and in Italy - the project actively involves the Department of Legal Sciences, the Department of Arts and the Cineteca di Bologna.
The main focus is on highlighting how cinema and, more generally, images allow us to 'see' better the issues that pose law and justice. Particular attention will also be paid to filmed trials, the use of images as evidence and the debate on the relationship between judge and historian.
ACHILLE ARDIGÒ SCHOOL ON "COMMUNITY WELFARE AND CITIZENS' RIGHTS" PROJECT
The Achille Ardigò School provides ongoing training on citizens' rights and on solidarity and community welfare and promotes, in collaboration with institutions and universities (including the DSG thanks to a framework agreement), participatory planning of solidarity interventions, socio-technical innovation and e-Welfare and e-Care networks.Through courses and seminars, research and publications, it addresses public service operators, association volunteers, third sector actors, students and citizens. The School develops its activities in relation to the Area Welfare and Promotion of Community Wellbeing of the Municipality of Bologna, according to the organisational modalities that are jointly defined by the activity of the Technical Scientific Committee of the School itself. The Scientific Technical Committee includes lecturers from our Department.

THE THIRD MISSION AT UNIBO
The third mission means a new scope of application of the Departmental research quality assurance system according to the parameters defined by ANVUR, namely "the set of activities through which the original knowledge produced by universities through scientific research is actively transformed into productive knowledge, susceptible to economic and commercial applications".
A salient feature of the third mission is the production of public goods of a social, educational and cultural nature, which is substantiated by the "ability of Universities and Departments to make the results of their research and specific service activities available to society".
To this end, the University nominated a collegial body (the TM Observatory) on 22 May 2018 with the task of developing and updating principles, criteria and methods for the evaluation of the third mission activities carried out by the scientific-disciplinary areas.
The monitoring of the activities by the TM Observatory concerns diversified actions, such as:
