The SustainEUorPlanet Jean Monnet Chair presents "The Protection of Shareholders in International Investment Law & Arbitration"

In international investment arbitration, shareholders are entitled to claim compensation for the drop in value of the shares caused by wrongful measures taken against their corporation. What is prohibited under corporate law and general international law has thus attained the status of a rule in investment law. Moving from an analysis of investment treaties and arbitral awards, an attempt will be made to uncover the reasons that led to such a legal overturn.
